February- A February born girlfriend can be gifted a nice lovely Amethyst ring, the romantic lavender color of which will remind her of you every time she looks at her fingers.
March- Clear icy aquamarine designed in a nice set of pendant and earrings can be something really special that your beloved would love to wear, if she’s born in the month of March.

May- Velvety green emeralds embedded in a ring is what you can gift your May-born girlfriend. She’ll love its beauty highlighted on her fingers every time and will savor its luck forever.
June- Pearls are a sign of purity and virtue. And in any case they are always a classic choice for women of any age. Present her a beautiful pair of white pearl studs and add a pearl strand along if your budget allows.
July- Rose red rubies are in itself a special gift to any lady. But when they’re gifted as lucky birthstones, they promise to instill self-esteem and confidence in the wearer. A ruby ring is something every woman will treasure for years.
August- Vibrant, refreshing and rejuvenating is what this August birthstone is known for. It is the lemon green colored stone- Peridot that proves to be lucky for August birthdays. You can consider a Peridot pendant to gift her on this Valentine’s Day that will compliment her neckline with its colorful grace.
September- Blue sapphire is on of the most sought-after gemstones as their mere pleasant look can revivify a person. This September birthstone would come as a feast to your girlfriend if it is set in a lovely necklace with diamonds. Long dangle earrings of blue sapphire can also be another option for gifting your September born Valentine.
October- Pure white Opals are the lucky birthstone for October people. The stone by itself might look not-so-appealing to people, but when designed in the form of a lovely ring with a real huge opal that flaunts its multi-color particles, it can impress a millions.
November- It is honey-colored, it is mind-pleasing and it can accent everything it is set upon. It’s the November birthstone- the yellow citrine. If your sweetheart is born in this month, there can be nothing better than Citrine studs as a budget Valentine gift.
December- Bright and vivid but cool and poised- this is what a Blue topaz is all about. Gift your girlfriend with a pair of Blue topaz earrings or pendant on this Valentine’s Day, if she’s born in the month of December.
A combination of two or more gemstones can also work well to please your beloved, but what will always matter to her is your heartfelt sentiments attached to the gift- be it a plain pair of semi-precious studs or an imperial-looking necklace of precious gems and diamonds.

Tailor-Made Jewelry With Birthstones
Recently it has become a hot fashion trend that people brag personalized birthstones as a symbol of identity. Birthstones do not only symbolize your birth month but also closely related to your nature and personality. The history of birthstones can be dated back to ancient times when they were believed to endow the wearers with vigorous, power and good luck. Nowadays, they are considered more as a tailor-made jewelry accessory to complete the look.
There are many thrilling ways you can wear birthstones to make a bold fashion statement. Birthstones are an indispensable part in personalizing jewelry such as ring, pendants, earrings or bracelets.
To add a sense of contemporaneity, you can get pendants in geometrical shapes such as solid squares, rectangle bricks or hearts with a gem indicating your birth month. Moreover, to be more personalized you can also engrave your names, initials, important dates on pendants with the birthstone.
Birthstones are quite popular among couples since some hold that the incorporation of birthstones in couple jewelry represents the union of two souls. With the improving skills, there is no limit on creative jewelry designs as you can sport different assortments such as heart pendants, break-apart pendants, initials, etc. Eternity bands sparkled with birthstones are one of the most sensible and indelible presents that one could gift the beloved. You can opt for another choice by setting the birthstone in the center or side of each band or wearing your partner’s birthstone with the name inscribed on it. Worn as couple jewelry, jewelry with birthstones are a symbol of love, promise and life-long companion.

Creative Birthstone and Pre Engagement Promise Rings
With the many options available to create custom promise rings, it is possible to create birthstone and pre engagement promise rings that are truly memorable. Selecting from birthstone, diamond, gemstone, type of ring, engraving, or symbolism in the ring or ring setting can produce a ring to impress even the most discriminating taste for jewelry.
Birthstone rings are excellent choices for pre engagement promise rings but you don’t need to select a ring with their birthstone only. A ring setting that allows for two or more stones will make a beautiful ring as well. This ring could be set with the birthstones of the couple. If the ring accommodates more stones, it could be set with a combination of the two birthstones, a gemstone in a favorite color or diamonds. A ring could also be designed to have the recipient’s birthstone as the center stone and diamonds or the givers birthstone as accents. Like the look of diamonds for the other stones but the budget is limited? Depending on what your budget allows, Cubic Zirconia and Moissanite are two options for substitutes with Moissanite being the more expensive of the two but also more durable.
Engraving is also an excellent option for creating beautiful and meaningful birthstone and pre engagement promise rings. How this makes a more meaningful ring is obvious. The ring could be engraved with any number of messages including names, dates, a phrase from a favorite song, etc… Most engraving is also available in a variety of fonts allowing the font selection to also be a part of the overall ring design. Also, depending on ring style, the option to engrave on the inside and/or outside may exist.
For engraving ideas for birthstone and pre engagement promise rings, you could start with what prompted the giving of engraved promise rings. If you have been seeing this person for a while and realize that you love them and want to spend your life with them, you could come up with some messages that come to mind when you think about the moment that you came to this realization. Determine what the significant moments were in your relationship that you feel have brought you to this point. Did your relationship start out with you as best friends and you later discovered that what you felt was actually love? Whatever the message, I am sure you see the potential with engraved rings.
Symbolism of the ring setting itself may be sufficient with or without a birthstone, diamond or other gemstone to create pre engagement promise rings that you are happy with. This symbolism could be for example hearts, doves, Claddaghs, Cross, Celtic Ring – Trinity Knot or a combination.
When creating your birthstone and pre engagement promise rings, utilizing birthstones along with other gemstones, engraving and/or symbolism in the ring style will allow you to create a ring that is truly special. When you explain how you chose it and what it represents to you, the recipient will surely be impressed.

Personalizing Jewelry With Birthstones
Some people like to wear gemstones purely because of their beauty and eye appeal. On the other hand some like to give it a sense of identity and nature by assorting them in birthstones for various months. Birthstones not only represent your birth month but they are also associated with your nature and personality to a large extend. Origin of birthstone dates back far in history when these were believed to bestow the wearer with power, positive vibes, good luck and favorable conditions. Today they are more of a personalized jewelry worn as a self statement or fashion symbol.
Birthstones provide a great help in personalizing jewelry adding a whole lot of excitement to your ring, pendants, earrings or bracelets. They also provide a lot of essence to couple jewelry taking it beyond heart pendants with photos and engravings. There are a lot of exciting ways you can wear birthstones as jewelry and make a strong fashion statement.
One can start with wearing their birthstones as simple solitaire rings and pendants. To make it contemporary get pendants in geometrical shapes studded with birthstones. You can go for solid squares, rectangle bricks or hearts with a small gem in the corner representing your birth month. To take it even further one can get their names, initials, important dates engraved on pendants or inside of the ring along with the birthstone. For those who are not into pendants and rings can wear a birthstone charm pendant on the bracelet.
When birthstones are incorporated in couple jewelry they symbolize union of two souls or in simple word union of two personalities. Some couple prefer to their birthstones in simple piece of jewelry worn by each of them. In contrast to this some prefer to wear their partner’s birthstone with their name inscribed on it. While there is no limit to how creative you can go with your couple jewelry designs some of the traditional options available are heart pendants, break-apart pendants and initials. Eternity bands enshrined with birthstones are one of the most sentimental and memorable gifts one could present their partner with. You can either go for you and your partner’s birthstone set in the center or side of each band or each partner wearing the other one’s birthstone.
If jewelry is an expression then birthstones are a symbol. They are an excellent option for birthday and anniversary gift. When worn individually they represent you and when worn as couple jewelry they represent love, commitment and togetherness.

Birthstone Pendant
Everyone loves a gift that is tailored to their personality, interests and lifestyle. So what’s better than giving birthstone pendant necklaces, bracelets, earrings or rings?
With birthstone pendant, it’s all about the personalization. You choose the setting, the cut and the stone. Here’s a quick guide to help you get started creating the perfect gift for that special someone in your life:
1) Choose your setting. Does the recipient tend to wear a lot of gold or sterling silver? If she’s allergic to 14K gold (some women are), it might be your best bet to go with beautiful sterling silver. The setting of the birthstone pendant should be reflective of the recipient’s personality. For example, if she is a modern woman, then she might appreciate an infinity setting (circle of birthstone pendant) which is quite stunning. If she has classic tastes, then perhaps something more feminine and ornate would be preferred.
2) Choose your cut. This may be dictated by the setting you choose, but if you decide upon a birthstone pendant, then you have some additional options. There are: princess cut, emerald cut, brilliant cut, pear drop, teardrop or bezel set stones, to name a few.
3) Choose the stone. This is pretty much decided for you by the birth month of the recipient, with the exception of the last 3 months of the year. As a refresher course, here are the months and corresponding modern birthstones:
January – Garnet birthstone
February – Amethyst birthstone
March – Aquamarine birthstone
April – Diamond birthstone
May – Emerald birthstone
June – Pearl birthstone
July – Ruby birthstone
August – Peridot birthstone
September – Sapphire birthstone
October – Opal, Tourmaline birthstone
November – Yellow Topaz, Citrine birthstone
December – Blue Topaz, Turquoise, Tanzanite birthstone
The origin of the birthstone comes from the bible and the 12 stones representing the 12 tribes of Israel. The gemstones correspond to the signs of the zodiac at that time.
Once you’ve chosen your personalization elements for the birthstone pendant, the only thing left for you to do is enjoy the thanks that you receive for your thoughtful gift.

April Birthstone – Diamond
“By far the most precious and coveted of the birthstones, diamonds are formed deep within the earth where there is enough intense heat and pressure for carbon to crystallize. Diamonds are the main choice for engagement rings. The diamond also symbolizes the 10th and 60th years of marriage.
Diamonds are so beautiful that ancient Greeks believed they were splinters of stars that had fallen to earth. Some even believed that there were tears of the Gods. The exact origin of diamonds is a mystery to scientists and geologists.
India is thought of as having the first large source of diamond mining. Ancient Hindus called the diamond Vajra, meaning lightening because of the sparks of light that it emits as well as its incredible strength. By far the most beautiful stone on the planet, it is also known as the hardest substance in the world.
Diamonds are found today in Australia, Botswana, Russia, and South Africa.
For quite some time diamonds have been known for having certain medicinal properties. In the middle ages gemstones were thought to heal illness if the person took the diamond in their bed with them.
It is believed that Cupid’s arrows were tipped in diamonds so it makes sense that over the years this beautiful stone has gotten a reputation as being the gift of love.
Diamonds used to be reserved for only royalty and others who were entitled to their symbolism of strength and courage. In 1477 Archduke Maximillian of Austria gave a diamond ring to Mary of Burgundy and set a tradition of diamond engagement rings.
Interestingly enough early Egyptians believed that the vena amoris also known as the vein of love ran directly from the heart to the third finger on the left hand.
Giving a diamond for any reason is sure to be appreciated.”

October Birthstone : Opal
A delightful mix of colors, what we would call the best of all worlds, is what an opal truly is and you couldn’t agree more with Pliny’s words above. In fact early Romans valued opals more than even diamonds or pearls due to their iridescent quality. The name opal in itself echoes the characteristics of the stone. In Sanskrit ‘upala’ means precious stone and in Greek ‘Opallios’ means ‘to see a change of color’.
Opal is the birthstone for the month of October. Called the queen of gems opal was considered by the Romans to be a symbol of purity and hope. It was also said to cure one from diseases, being fortified with strong therapeutic powers. Some believed it brought ill luck if those not born in October wore opal. Sadly, opal has been an infamous stone and believed to bring devastation to the entire family of one wearing it. This myth came along with a few unfortunate incidents that coincidentally happened to those sporting opal. This superstition most likely stemmed from the fact that these stones being dry broke during the process of cutting and polishing and hence were considered ominous.
There were some who did not much bother about these fallacies the best example being Queen Victoria. She truly fancied opals and wore them generously besides having a personal collection of these fine gems. She also gave them away as wedding gifts to all her five daughters.
Truly a gem of the royals opals were quite generously used in crowns. The striking ‘Orphanus’ adorned the crown of the Holy Roman Emperor and is said to have been safeguarding the regal honor. In fact Napoleon gifted a red one with dazzling flashes called ‘The Burning of Troy’ to his Empress Josephine.
The Romans are said to have been in love and in complete awe of opals. So much so that Mark Antony in his quest for a particular opal belonging to Senator Nonius dismissed him on being refused to buy the mesmerizing jewel from him. It was after all meant to be a gift for his lady love Cleopatra and no way would he accept an answer in the negative. They were so sought after that another Roman Emperor is believed to have traded one third of his kingdom in exchange of a sole opal.
I honestly feel a painter’s palette when crystallized would resemble an Opal. The gem has a unique quality of portraying multiple colors at the same time. Who can after all resist these flickering beauties. Agreed it is a gemstone for all of you born in the month of October but it definitely wouldn’t be fair to deprive others of its charm. Not to forget, royalty from all across the world fell easy prey to the charisma of these distinctively exclusive gems.

October Birthstone
OCTOBER BIRTHSTONE
Basically there are two birthstones for the month of October. These are the opal and the pink tourmaline. Opal was derived from the ancient Sanskrit word “upala” and the latin word “opalus” which means precious stone. The opal is the most common gemstone.
The opal is made up of microscopic silica spheres that is held together by other silicas and water. It is a very fragile hydrated silica material. The opal is a soft stone and can be altered easily in appearance by heat and pressure. The opal contains different amounts of water and this is what determines the appearance of the opal. If the water evaporates out of the opal, the mineral will appear slightly smaller and the effect of the evaporation will create crack on the gemstone.
You can actually find an opal in near-surface volcanic rocks. It is found within the cavities and cracks. In a sedimentary ash rock, the opal is formed by percolating water that dissolves the silica and eventually precipitates and results to an opal. The opal is sometimes the replacement for fossils, shells, bones, or wood. It is a substitue for those materials that the original material has already dissolved.
Opals are very famous because of their multi-colored effects or their play of colors. There are so many stones that has the colors of the rainbow when they are moved. This is because of the interference of the light on the stone’s small cracks. Opals also have this kind of ability because to the stone’s impurities. If you see some pearly or milky appearance on opals, this is because of the presence of tiny gas bubbles. The red and yellows betray the abundance of iron oxides. The beautiful black opal can sometimes appear green, blue or red, this is caused by the magnesium oxides and carbon within the opal. Possibly the most valuable opal is the harlequin, it is a large stone with angular patches of yellow, red and green and it resembles the checks on a clown’s dress.
The major source of opals is in Australia. The country is also noted for the abundance of the magnificent black opals. However, you can find the fire opals in Mexico even now, Mexico is still abundant with the Fire opal. The brilliant fire opals can also be found in the state of Nevada in the United States. Other sources of the opal are Honduras, Nicaragua, Japan, Ireland, Guatemala, and Brazil.
The opal represents love and hope according to the ancient Romans. The opal is sometimes called as the Anchor of Love. Legend states that it fell from the sky in flashes of lightning. Ancient civilizations say that it makes the wearer powerful by being invisible. The opal was the amulet of spies and thieves.
During the Medieval Age, if the opal changes its color, it was believed that the owner was either ill or in good health. The gemstone was used to maintain a strong heart protection from infection, fainting, and is used as an air freshener.
